What Is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgery to alleviate breast sagging due to weight loss, pregnancy, or aging. These procedures involve the removal of excess breast skin with skin tightening, making this procedure a good option for women who want to reclaim their natural shape without a major change in size. Sometimes along with the lift, a breast implant is used to enhance and replace involuted breast tissue.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

In most cases, breast lifts are performed using three incisions. The first circles around the areola, or the dark skin around the nipple. The second incision is done under the nipple and continues until the bottom of the breast. The third and final incision is done along the breast crease, the base of the breast.

These incisions allow for the precise removal of excess skin. They also allow for the new location of the nipple. Once the excess skin has been removed, the nipple and areola are placed in a new position, and the breast is reshaped. The good news is that the results of your breast lift can be seen right away. It may take several weeks for your breasts to heal fully, but we’ll be there to support you at every step.

Benefits of a Breast Lift

The procedure can offer several benefits in addition to improving your confidence. These include:

  • Long-lasting results.
  • A more youthful appearance.
  • An improved shape, projection, and breast symmetry.
  • Better fitting clothes.
  • There will only be light scarring.
