Turner Medical Arts now provides Bone Score™ assessments to evaluate the health of your bones.

If you are unsatisfied with your nose shape or are struggling with a nasal issue, a rhinoplasty may be the solution you’re looking for.

The beauty of a rhinoplasty procedure is that it can be both cosmetic and a great treatment option for those struggling with medical issues. Besides aesthetics, people often request nose surgery for extreme allergic reactions or obstructed breathing. In addition to your motivation for surgery, several other factors should also be considered. For one, be sure to take your age into account. With the exception of pediatric patients born with facial birth defects, younger teens are not good candidates for this surgery. Additionally, people who smoke should consider quitting before undergoing rhinoplasty. Smoking causes poor blood flow and may pose complications during the procedure. At Turner Medical Arts, our expert team of surgeons can help you determine whether you’re a good candidate for a nose job and provide you with the care you seek.

Why a Rhinoplasty?

When you visit our office to discuss your rhinoplasty,  be prepared to answer a series of questions. Our questions will be aimed at helping us determine your motivation and medical needs for the surgery.  Having surgery will result in short term swelling, pain, and a substantial recovery period, so please keep this in mind. If needed, we will run a series of nasal evaluations to make sure that your body can handle the surgery. These procedures will focus on the anatomical thirds of your nose, your nasal angles, and overall symmetry. After discussing the risks and running the tests, you will be ready to undergo the procedure.

Rhinoplasty Surgery Procedure

During a standard rhinoplasty procedure, incisions are made within the nose where they are not visible. In some cases, a small incision may be made between the skin of the nostril, underneath the nose. After making these incisions, our skilled surgeons will scrap the cartilage and bone below your skin to create your new nose shape. A successful rhinoplasty improves facial harmony and draws attention away from the nose, directing it toward the eyes. Most of our rhinoplasty procedures are performed under general anesthesia and take roughly 1-3 hours.

Expected Surgical Results

The results of your rhinoplasty surgery will be long-lasting. However, right after the procedure, you will experience swelling for about 7 days. In some cases, it may take up to a year for the nasal contour to fully refine. You may notice gradual changes in the appearance of your nose until it is done healing. As you age, your nose will undergo some gradual change, but the results of rhinoplasty surgery are relatively permanent.
