The Ins and Outs of IV Infusion Therapy

Interested in IV Infusion Therapy? Connect with us and get to know Mary Sidavanh to get in on the latest trend! Schedule in Santa Barbara.

IV Infusion Therapy has seen a huge surge in popularity recently. It seems that just about every medspa and aesthetic center is now apt to carry drip formulas to help you feel happier and healthier. However, those familiar with the advertising around these new treatment methods may still feel skeptical about giving IV therapy a try. Much of their reluctance comes from not knowing enough about the procedure and the formulas used.

At Turner Medical Arts, we strive to provide our patients with not only the highest level of care but full transparency as well. In an effort to provide you with the education you’re looking for, we sat down with our very own Mary Sidavanh, RN, from Sage IV. Along with being a certified critical care nurse, Mary holds certifications in IV Nutrient Therapy and Weight Management from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Her long track record of providing patient care and IV drip recommendations make her the perfect source to turn to when considering this amazing treatment system. Check out the full interview below!

Q: What Got You Into IV Infusion Therapy?

A: I’ve always been inspired by health and wellness. I believe that health starts on the inside and shines through to the outside. The beauty of IV infusion therapy is that it delivers critical vitamins and antioxidants with the healing properties of IV hydration. As a former critical care nurse, I saw the spectrum of disease processes ameliorated by IV therapy and the true value of bringing these services to the outpatient setting. I created Sage IV with Dr. Alan J Viglione simply because we love helping people feel their best.

Q: Is IV Infusion Just for Athletes?

A: Absolutely not! IV infusion can help anyone, really. We have clients who seek IV formulas with energy-boosting vitamins to spark weight-loss regimens. We have athletes who seek recovery formulas with amino acids. We have those who target beauty and skin repair with vitamin C, glutathione, and antioxidant boosts. We have those who seek NAD+ therapy for anti-aging or memory. And of course, we have clients who seek care for acute issues such as hangovers, food poisoning, or migraines. The list of benefits is endless and we’re around anytime to provide guidance.

Q: Can You Describe the Most Popular IV Infusion Therapies?

Myer’s Cocktail:

This is probably the most popular because of how inclusive the formulation is. It contains all the B vitamins alongside magnesium, Vitamin C, and calcium set in a liter of normal saline. This classic formula has been around since the 1960s and has been shown to help support a range of ailments, including chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, depression, migraines, GI illnesses, and pro-inflammatory states, such as cancer or rheumatoid arthritis.

This is the most potent antioxidant, which acts to neutralize cellular damage. Many of our patients use glutathione to boost energy, improve skin health, enhance immune system, and generalized anti-aging. It can be given alone, or as a “boost” to any other hydration package.

This is the core to many clients anti-aging regimen. NAD+ is a major coenzyme involved in generating energy in the mitochondria and maintenance of our body’s cellular clock, the telomere. It has a profound effect on cells naturally more metabolically active, including the brain. Many of our clients use NAD+ for mental clarity, memory, and neurological health.

Q: Are There Any Risks Associated with These Treatments?

A: Vitamin therapy is extremely safe, especially in the absence of advanced heart, liver, or kidney disease. We perform a health screen on all clients to identify anyone who might not be an appropriate candidate, and we have an in-house physician in the case of an unanticipated allergy or side effect. Less common side effects include pain or inflammation at the site of infusion, allergy, or vasovagal (fainting) response.

Q: Which IV drip Would You Recommend for Someone Just Starting Out?

A: The Myer’s Cocktail is a great choice for someone looking to try out our IV hydration. It’s a great starter formula and additional ingredients can easily be added for greater personalization. Ultimately, the best package is the one that makes you feel your best!

Q: Do You Have Any Additional Info You’d Like to Share?

A: Try us out! We are also offering a weight loss program that incorporates vitamin therapy, medication facilitation, and dietary counseling for those who seek a more comprehensive regimen. If you’re curious to learn more we’d love to hear from you! We’re passionate about alternative therapies in this wellness journey and we love the personal connections that we make with our clients.
