Peels

Over time, the dermal collagen and elastin content in our faces tend to gradually decline. When this gradual aging process is combined with sun exposure, the decline in these proteins can lead to excessive skin laxity, hyperpigmentation, and the appearance of unpleasant blemishes. Thankfully, addressing these issues doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated. Turner Medical Arts is ready to provide you with the most relaxing skin rejuvenation treatments in the form of chemical peels. These services are a great way to improve the appearance of your skin and enhance your youthful glow.

Types of Peels

Chemical peels are specialty skincare treatments that involve the application of mild acids to the skin of the face. The most common chemical peels, such as those containing glycolic, trichloroacetic, salicylic, lactic, and carbolic acid (phenol) are considered safe to use and act as beneficial exfoliating agents. At Turner Medical Arts, we offer three levels of chemical peel intensity to tackle a range of skin concerns. As peels are customizable based on your particular needs and made to address acne scarring, sun damage, age spots, and other irritation.

The Peel Procedure

Turner Medical Arts makes every effort to deliver treatments in a comfortable and beneficial way. Most of our peels generally take 15-30 minutes to apply. However, this time may be less or more depending upon your individual skincare needs. During a chemical peel, most people feel a slight burning and stinging sensation. This feeling usually lasts about 5-10 minutes. After your peel session, you will notice enhanced skin radiance and smoothness.

Results of Peels

Depending on your choice of chemical peel and the concern in question, a reaction similar to sunburn can occur after the procedure. This is accompanied by mild redness and scaling that typically lasts for 3-7 days. Our mild peels can be done quickly and provide a nice radiance and glow to your skin with zero downtime. Our medium peel may result in some mild swelling, redness, and sensitivity. After your session, the skin on your face will peel over a period of a few days. During this time, you’ll need to avoid direct sunlight since your new skin will be fragile and prone to irritation.
