How Long Does Fat Transfer Last?

Fat cells don’t simply disappear when they’re taken out of one area and injected into another. After a transfer, fat assimilates into the area it is injected into and remains in place permanently. The area that fat was removed from can be permanent if proper diet and exercise routines are maintained.

How Painful Is the Procedure?

Fat transfers are not painful because they are performed under anesthetic. A procedure on the face and hands may be done under local anesthesia in most cases. Something like a breast augmentation or BBL is typically done under general anesthesia. In either case, you will not feel any pain.

What Are the Risks of Fat Transfer?

These surgeries require downtime. In most cases, you can experience bruising, swelling, temporary numbness, and small scars. Serious risks include hematoma, blood vessel blockages, more visible scars, infection, excess bleeding, and more. For a comprehensive list of risks and side effects, please contact our office.

Can Your Body Reject a Fat Transfer?

While the procedure does pose risks, rejection isn’t one of them. That’s because your fat is used in the operation – it is merely transferred from one place to another within your body. That said, using another person’s fat would result in rejection; therefore, this procedure is not performed with donors.
